Screen-printed handbags and backpacks
A classic for enhancing your handbag
Screen-printing is a classic printing process that is very versatile and it can be used for printing the most diverse materials and shapes. HALFAR® uses it for enhancing handbags and backpacks. Screen-printing is the process that we use most frequently for printing on textiles and especially on the handbags that are made from tarpaulin (waterproofed canvas).
Screen-printing is a preferable alternative to use instead of embroidery or other printing processes in the case of handbags that are made from cotton or polyester. HALFAR ® prints the handbags in our own factory, which makes us particularly flexible and rapid. We do not undertake printing as a commissioned or outsourced service.
Screen-printing, embroidery or digital printing?
Find the optimum process
HALFAR® handbags and backpacks are made for advertising purposes: they are the means by which our customers present their logos and advertising messages for merchandising, prizes, trade-fairs or promotions. Our customers can only achieve the best presence in the market by choosing the best enhancing process.
We are one of the largest manufacturers of advertising handbags and therefore we consider that perfect enhancement is very important. We will gladly advise you by telephone for this reason. We can also provide you with visualizations of the handbags and logos, in order to make it easier for you to choose the enhancement. We are able to offer you information about our enhancing techniques as an ample input, whenever you would gladly like to form your own impression in advance.
Checking that your bag is perfectly printed in 8 steps
Our checklist will guide you along the way to achieving the perfect result, so that the print will be suitable on the handbag or backpack that you have chosen.
1st check Data
Do I have the right prototypes or data for printing my handbags?
A proverbial saying among printers is that a print is always only as good as the printing data. We always need vectored data in recognized formats, so that we can prepare the perfect print for your firm. The prints that we create have letters with the maximum height of 5 mm on textiles and lines with the maximum thickness of 0.5 mm. You can obtain further information about the required printing data and prototypes for screen-printing here.
2nd check Motive
Is my motive suitable for screen-printing?
Various factors determine whether a motive is suitable for classic screen-printing or not. The materials from which the handbag or backpack is made are always significant: the next point gives more information about this subject. Basically, screen-printing allows many motives to be created, although a suitably flat material has to be used as the substrate in the case of very delicate motives. The following rule of thumb applies in principle: the more textured and uneven is the surface, the more restricted are the possibilities. This rule especially applies to the line's maximum thickness, the letter's maximum height and the maximum registration.
3rd check Material
Is the handbag's material suitable for screen-printing?
We have already written in the 2nd point about how important it is to have a suitably textured material for reproducing a motive perfectly through screen-printing. Absorption is a further factor because a very absorbent material consumes more printing ink than a less absorbent one. Polyester in one of these (highly absorbent) materials, among others. We often print twice (i.e., overprint once) in order to compensate for this property. This circumstance not only affects the printing cost but it can also entail placing demands on the printed motive. You can find further information in our tips about printing the bags.
4th check Design
Are there different approaches to the design?
Does your target group love your handbag? If yes, then does that essentially depend upon the design of the logo and the handbag, or both? One must consider various criteria in this case, especially for using screen-printing as the method of enhancement. We recommend that you consult the following information in this case.
5th check Ink
Can the inks achieve my requested colouring?
Yes, basically because all coloured inks can be used in screen-printing. Your effect certainly depends upon the material's quality, as well as its colour and the applied ink(s). The principle applies that we do not print on paper but on textured materials. Please read the following information for customers concerning this subject.
6th check The number of items
How many handbags do I have to order for the printing?
The magical figure is 50: we will screen-print your handbags individually whenever the quantity is more than this minimum purchase order. There are not any upper limits. You can receive further information in the chapter that is entitled Enhancement of handbags.
7th check Costs
How are the costs split up for my printed handbags?
The costs of a professional advertising handbag that is made by HALFAR® include the following services as a rule: the price of the handbag, the enhancing cost, the preparatory cost and the transport. You can find further information in the chapter that is entitled Concerning the decoration of bags and backpacks.
8th check Samples
Can I receive a binding specimen copy before placing the order?
We will support you with making a reliable decision. We will gladly print your motive as a binding specimen copy on a handbag that you have chosen. You can find more information about this subject here.
Can the screen-printing process also create finely illustrated motives with high-definition resolution?
Yes, basically but certainly subject to reservations. A material's surface texture plays the main role when creating images with high-resolution definition by using screen-printing. Therefore, if you are thinking about 'HD' motives, either as continuous images or illustrative motives, then please consult us beforehand. If the screen-printing technique has limitations in this case, then we would gladly recommend an alternative enhancing process like digital printing, digitally printed labels or sublimation printing.
How durable is a screen-printed image on a handbag?
The durability of a screen-print on a handbag depends upon the following factors.
1) The surface texture of the printed material
2) The ink system that is utilized.
3) The hard-wearing property of the print when it is subjected to stress and strain.
4) The degree of possible ultra-violet radiation.
We are able to influence the factors that are described in point 2 especially because we are a manufacturer of handbags, a printer and an enhancer of handbags. We at HALFAR® coordinate the materials, the requested coloured ink(s) and the use of the printed image on your handbag. That is why we can give a manufacturer's warranty of 3 years to our customers for the handbags and backpacks, including the printed image (when the article is used appropriately).
We will obviously advise you about how to achieve the longest possible durability of the print already before the printing is done. We typically recommend in this way not to apply the print directly onto bending points like the covering flap or the front pocket for example. Sunlight can also change the colour of the printed ink and it could fade as time passes: that comment especially applies to the natural materials like cotton or jute. These changes cannot be excluded completely, even if they are often quite negligible. We will gladly advise you about alternative printing processes in these cases.
How environmentally friendly is the screen-printing process?
HALFAR® considers itself to be a company that works sustainably. We are committed to the industrial processes that are environmentally friendly and protect the climate: we often surpass the legal requirements in this way. Our machinery is extremely modern. All of the industrial processes like manufacturing of the screen-printing frames, coating them, printing and removing the stencil, are carried out according to the latest standard of technological development. In addition, we solely utilize the inks which are made by the leading specialized manufacturers that are renowned worldwide.
