PROTOTYPING TURNS YOUR VISION INTO REALITY

An insight into our prototype construction

Special bags or technical bags are tailor-made solutions for special challenges. Individual, functional and always unique. Because carefully developed technical bags must meet high standards. For this reason, the development process requires special attention. Our special bags team will therefore clarify all important questions with you at the start: The requirement profile of your bag, the suitable material, as well as any standards for your device accessories or your sales market; plus dimensions and tolerances that must be adhered to. Together with you, we develop a concept for your perfect special bag. The first prototype is then produced in our prototype shop. But HALFAR® can do more than just bags! We can also realize textile solutions of any kind for you. Read more about it here.

What is prototyping?

The characteristics that make up a prototype are different. First of all, the prototype helps to ensure that the final product meets the customer's requirements. Further down the line, the process involves several cycles to improve and refine the product based on the customer's feedback. As the prototype provides a visual representation, design errors can be identified and corrected at an early stage, avoiding costs later on.

What characterises a prototype?

The characteristics that make up a prototype are different. First of all, the prototype helps to ensure that the final product meets the customer's requirements. Later on, the process involves several cycles to improve and refine the product based on the customer's feedback. As the prototype provides a highly visual representation, design errors can be recognised and corrected at an early stage, avoiding costs later on.

Prototyping at Halfar - Made in Germany

Creation of the product

Before a product reaches its final form, our dedicated employees produce sample parts, prototypes and small batches of textile products in our in-house prototyping and sewing departments. The path from the first draft to the finished sample bag is characterized by careful planning and skilled craftsmanship. Every step is accompanied professionally - from the development of the production steps and material cutting to the final production and finishing. The focus is always on the customer's requirements.

How are our prototypes created?

In pattern making, the patterns are created using a special visualization program. The finished pattern file is then forwarded to the plotter and the pattern sewing department. The plotter is an important part of our work, contributing significantly to the precise production of the patterns. It transfers the pattern, including all important data, onto templates or cuts the pattern pieces precisely. These patterns then serve as a template for cutting the material.

Material cutting and pattern sewing.

The next step is the actual cutting of the material, either by cutter or punch. The cut parts prepared in this way are then processed into prototypes in our sample sewing department. It doesn't matter whether the products are small or large, firm or soft, heavily padded or single-layer materials - our various sewing machines and special machines ensure clean and consistent seams so that you end up with a durable, high-quality product.

Innovative prototyping with 3D printing

Does your product need handles, feet or similar plastic parts? We have also been using a 3D printer for prototyping new products for some time now. With the help of our 3D printer, we can create an initial image of designed plastic parts and match them perfectly to your product.

How much does a prototype cost?

There is no fixed price for prototypes, as it depends on the materials used, the complexity, the manufacturing process and the design and development effort involved. Our special bags team will be happy to advise you.

What comes after the prototype?

Your prototype makes it possible to test the functionality, design and ergonomics of your product presentation in practice. This allows potential problems or areas for improvement to be identified and rectified at an early stage. Prototypes help to evaluate the suitability of the selected materials and manufacturing techniques before mass production begins.

Your special bag, our special team

In addition to our design staff, our project managers and our design department are also on hand to provide you with comprehensive expertise and personal advice on special bags.
