SUSTAINABILTY AT HALFAR

Find out how we live sustainability in daily practice and which paths we take to achieve it. In accordance with the three-pillar model, divided into the fields of peoplenature and product, we explain our sustainable actions and show how we take responsibility. An important component of this approach has been our climate strategy: Wherever possible, we avoid and reduce CO2 emissions; unavoidable emissions are offset in cooperation with ClimatePartner.

Shaping the present, living the future

Little children with plants
On our path of sustainable and responsible management, we have already achieved a number of goals and mastered a wide range of challenges. We start where we have the power to change. We know that we cannot change everything directly, globally and all at once. But we can tackle and act. Together we are taking responsibility. Because: "FUTURE is what we make of it together".

In addition to our homepage, our sustainability matrix provides information on why Halfar sees itself as a sustainable company. Throughout the year, our company blog also provides exciting news about our daily work and our self-image. We report because it is important to us to show all our stakeholders: "Who we are, what we do and above all, why we do it".

Sustainability – a pressure point

At Halfar, we understand sustainable management according to the three-pillar model. This model is based on the idea that sustainable development, environmental, economic and social goals are implemented simultaneously and equally. It is also based on the assumption that the three aspects are interdependent. This means that the measures are only truly sustainable and thus viable for the future in their intersection.

Accordingly, we report on the three pillars: People, nature and product with their respective CSR impact areas: Market, Environment, Community and Workplace.
Our goal is to show how we take responsibility and initiate change. We see ourselves as contributors within the framework of a task for society as a whole, which is named in the 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the United Nations. In this context, we have included the SDGs in our consideration in 2019 together with CheckN from the B.A.U.M. network.

What are SDGs?

Sustainable Development Goals at Halfar
The SDGs are the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. They are the political goals of the United Nations (UN) that are intended to ensure sustainable development at the economic, social and ecological levels. The 17 goals are the core of the 2030 Agenda, which was adopted in 2015. The goals were designed in line with the development process of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and came into force on 1 January 2016 with a duration of 15 years (until 2030). Unlike the MDGs, which applied to developing countries in particular, the SDGs apply to governments and civil society as well as the private sector and academia.
