EXOSKELETONS IN LOGISTICS

Strong & flexible: Exoskeletons make everyday work in logistics lighter

Lifting, carrying, setting down - in logistics and warehousing, the demands on physical resilience are high. This makes it all the more important to use innovative technologies to relieve the strain on employees and to contribute to safety and health in the workplace. Here, the use of exoskeletons can be an effective solution. We at Halfar also use this technology in warehouse logistics to relieve our employees. You can find out what exoskeletons can do in this blog post.

What are exoskeletons?

Exoskeletons are wearable devices that are placed on the body and help to support, enhance or enable movement. Originally, these devices were developed to help people with physical disabilities, such as those caused by injury or disease, regain their mobility and independence. In recent years, the technology behind exoskeletons has made enormous progress, so that they can now be used for a wide range of purposes.

Why are exoskeletons a support for employees in the field of warehouse logistics?

Employees in warehouse logistics often have to carry heavy loads and move in uncomfortable positions to perform their tasks. This can lead to increased strain on the musculoskeletal system and thus finally to exhaustion or injuries. The use of exoskeletons is intended to counteract this and contribute to an improvement in working conditions in the logistics sector. The skeletons can be individually adapted to the needs and physical conditions of the user.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Reduction of physical strain
  • Prevention of injuries
  • More strength for the (working) day
  • Higher employee satisfaction

  • Exoskeletons "in action" at Halfar

We are already using so-called soft exoskeletons from the company Hunic since 2022. These not only take up to 50% of the load off the wearer, but also ensure correct movement during lifting and thus an optimal posture of the spine. They are used in our warehouse, for example, when unloading containers. The following video shows how it looks "in action":
