WORKING AS WAREHOUSE EMPLOYEE AT HALFAR

Apprenticeship as a warehouse logistics expert (m/f/d) at Halfar in Bielefeld

Interview with Henryk

So far, we have introduced you to Halfar's apprentices in various interviews. Now we are starting a new series of interviews with employees who talk about their work at Halfar. Our first interview is with Henryk. He works in logistics and gives us an insight into his work.

More about career at Halfar

How long have you been working at Halfar?

I've been working at Halfar for 4.5 years, 2.5 of which were training years.

Why did you decide to work in logistics?

After completing my vocational baccalaureate, I took a roundabout route into logistics. Through various part-time jobs, I realised that I really like the combination of organisational planning and practical work that is required in logistics. That challenges me.

How did you find out about Halfar?

I came across Halfar through the employment agency. I then looked at the website and found the company exciting.

What were your first impressions of Halfar?

My first impressions were very good. I was well received and all my colleagues are nice and helpful.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

Working together with my colleagues.

What things do you sometimes find annoying?

Monotonous tasks are not always my thing, but they have to be done, that's part of the job. However, we always have new challenges. Last year, for example, we closed our external warehouses and put our new, modern logistics centre into operation. We managed this smoothly, which makes us really proud.

What did you do before you joined Halfar?

Before my time at Halfar, I first completed my secondary school certificate and then my vocational baccalaureate. After that, I did several part-time jobs in logistics. I feel at home in logistics and see prospects for the future.

What tasks do you have to do in this department?

I mainly deal with the dispatch of our products. But sometimes I also work in goods receiving and order picking. Because I don't do the same thing every day, I learn a lot and it's not boring.

Do you get on well with your colleagues?

Yes, we all get on very well and that's not just an empty phrase. When things have to happen quickly, we have to be able to rely on each other. That's when you realise how important a good team is.

How much longer do you plan to work at Halfar?

I would like to work here for a long time.

What would you change? / What don't you like about Halfar?

I would like to use less packaging material and, above all, less film. We want to become even more environmentally friendly. The great thing is that we can contribute our ideas and we are always evolving.

What do you do after work?

After work, I usually relax or meet up with friends.

How long do you work each day?

I usually work 8 hours and 15 minutes. But if there's more to do, I sometimes work longer.

What motivates you?

All my colleagues motivate each other. It's a bit like sport. We want to be good and make our contribution to success. Describe Halfar in one sentence. We get on really well, we're all more friends than colleagues.

What makes Halfar a good employer?

The working conditions are good and the materials are also very high quality.

Are you happy with your job?

Yes, I'm always motivated to come to work and I enjoy my job.

Would you prefer to do another job?

After I completed my apprenticeship at Halfar, I decided to stay in logistics. I simply enjoy it and it suits me. Logistics is demanding and varied.

Do you feel at home at Halfar?

Yes, I'm very happy that I ended up at Halfar and not somewhere else.

Many thanks to Henryk for the interview! You can expect another interview with one of our colleagues soon. Stay tuned!
